Sometimes a few words are enough to shift the way we see the day.
James Joyce reminds us that mistakes are not just detours; they are hidden doorways. The kind you only find by bumping into them. In my experience, those bumps can be frustrating at first, but they often push me toward something I would have missed if I had played it safe. The problem is that the “portal” usually does not look inviting at first. It might even look like a setback or a dead end. But if we step through anyway, we often find that it was the only way to get where we needed to go.
