Thought of the Day: I no doubt deserved my enemies

Sometimes a few words are enough to shift the way we see the day.
Whitman, as usual, nails a feeling most of us have had—but rarely say out loud. It’s easy to look back and think, “Yeah, I kind of earned some of those grudges.” Maybe it was a sharp word, a missed birthday, or that time you borrowed a lawnmower and returned it… two seasons later. But when it comes to friends, it’s a bit of a mystery. Why do some people stick with us through thick and thin, bad jokes and worse haircuts? I’m not sure I’ve ever fully earned the generosity, patience, and loyalty my friends have shown me. Maybe that’s what makes it so special.
