“I have my faults, but changing my tune is not one of them.” — Samuel Beckett
Sometimes a few words are enough to shift the way we see the day.
This one made me laugh out loud—and then immediately question all my decisions. Beckett somehow makes stubbornness sound like a virtue, or at least a signature trait worth owning. And honestly? I relate.
There are people who pride themselves on being adaptable, chameleons who can shift tone, opinion, or personality depending on the room. Then there are people like me—who basically showed up to life with one tune, and we’re still humming it…slightly off-key, probably barefoot, possibly stepping on a LEGO.
To be fair, I’ve tried to “change my tune” before. But it usually feels like I’m faking it—or worse, like I’m abandoning something true for something trendy. There’s something respectable (and sometimes ridiculous) about sticking to your melody, even when the whole world’s gone auto-tune.
