“Anxiety’s like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but it doesn’t get you very far.” — Erma Bombeck
Sometimes a few words are enough to shift the way we see the day.
Today’s thought is equal parts witty and brutally accurate. Anxiety feels productive, like you’re “doing something,” but more often than not, it’s just mental cardio, sweaty, repetitive, and not really getting you anywhere.
I’ve rocked in that chair plenty. The worrying, the rethinking, the imaginary arguments I always win (hours later, in the shower). It gives the illusion of control without offering any real traction. The goal today? Recognize when I’m just rocking, and step out of the chair.
