Every day at Low Two Pair, I try to serve up something that makes you pause—either to think more deeply or to snort-laugh in the middle of your workday. Today’s Thought of the Day and Question of the Day combo is exactly that kind of mix: part philosophy, part “who hurt you?” culinary debate. We’re talking about truth-seeking with Walker Percy, and then swerving into the fiery, saucy battleground of bad pizza toppings.
Thought of the Day:
“If I had the choice of knowing the truth or searching for the truth, I’d take the search.” — Walker Percy
This quote stops me in my tracks every time.
There’s something dangerously final about “knowing the truth.” Like… what if you don’t like it? What if it ruins pizza forever?
Percy’s idea is more generous, more alive. He suggests that the act of searching—of remaining curious, humble, maybe even a little lost—is the real prize. Knowing implies arrival. Searching lets you stay in motion, and motion is where the meaning lives.
It reminds me of a post I wrote not long ago about patience and action. Action, like searching, means you’re in it. You’re present. You haven’t shut the door and said, “That’s it. I know.”
I don’t know. And I’m okay with that.

Question of the Day:
What is the worst possible topping for a pizza?
This is obviously subjective—but also… it’s totally not subjective. There are wrong answers, and some people should be on culinary watchlists.
Worst possible topping? I’ll go with canned tuna. It’s not a topping. It’s a cry for help.
I can tolerate pineapple. I can survive anchovies. I’ve even accepted weird artisan pizzas topped with arugula and pear slices. But the moment someone says “let’s put canned fish on cheese and bread,” I start looking for an exit and a new set of friends.
Still, this question isn’t just about pizza. It’s about the tiny hills we choose to die on, the little opinions that define our personalities more than we care to admit. Just like our question about candy you can’t stand.
So, what’s your line in the mozzarella sand?
Your Turn
Do you value the search more than the answer? Have you ever had a pizza that made you question your life choices?
