Welcome back to another dive into the unpredictable currents of curiosity and reflection. In today’s Thought of the Day and Question of the Day, we’re exploring ancient epics, strange sea creatures, and the ways our choices—like our favorite sharks—say more about us than we think. Whether you’re here for the Homeric references or just wondering which underwater nightmare best represents your vibe, there’s something for you.
🧠 Thought of the Day:
“Sing to me of the man, Muse, the man of twists and turns…”
That’s how Homer kicks off The Odyssey, and honestly? What an entrance. It’s poetic, it’s mysterious, and it basically says, “Get ready, this guy’s got stories.” The man of twists and turns isn’t just Odysseus—it’s all of us. Especially if you’ve ever had a day where your best-laid plans get hijacked by metaphorical (or actual) sirens, cyclopes, or traffic on I-287.
What I love about this line is how it acknowledges that life isn’t linear. We rarely go from point A to point B without detours, delays, or detours from those delays. But the twists and turns are the story. The Muse doesn’t sing of the guy who got to his destination efficiently—she sings of the guy who got there late, confused, and with a whole mythos to unpack.

🦈 Question of the Day:
What is your favorite type of shark?
My choice? It’s a toss-up between the Greenland Shark and the Goblin Shark. Why? Because if you’re going to pick a favorite shark, don’t go basic. Great whites get all the press, but the Greenland Shark lives for hundreds of years and looks like it’s been tired since the Renaissance. The Goblin Shark, on the other hand, is… well… it’s not winning any beauty contests, but you’ve got to respect a creature that looks like it escaped from someone’s sleep paralysis.
There’s something kind of beautiful about liking the oddballs. The sharks that don’t get the movie deals. The ones lurking quietly in the deep, reminding us that there’s value in being a little strange, a little slow-moving, or a little… prehistoric.
And if you’ve never looked at a Goblin Shark and thought, “Yeah, I’ve had a Monday like that,” you’re either very lucky or lying.
