There’s a lot of noise in the world right now, scrolls, pings, alerts, breaking news about things that will be forgotten in 12 hours. But every once in a while, something cuts through the static. A look. A sound. A small moment that pulls you back to wonder.
In today’s Thought of the Day and Question of the Day, we’re slowing down to notice those moments and sharpen our senses again. Because maybe the magic isn’t gone. Maybe we just stopped paying attention.
Thought of the Day
“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.” — W.B. Yeats
Yeats wasn’t talking about wizards or spells. He was talking about awareness. The kind of magic that hides in plain sight, morning light hitting a coffee mug, the sound of your kid laughing in another room, the way the wind finds a rhythm through the trees.
It’s easy to miss those things when we’re moving fast. Most days, I operate like a human to-do list, crossing off, typing up, following through. But the older I get, the more I realize that the best parts of my day usually don’t appear on any list. They sneak in between tasks: a warm hand, a quiet car ride, the flicker of something familiar and beautiful.
We tend to think that magic is something you chase. Yeats flips that idea. He suggests it’s already here, waiting for us to notice. Like a patient friend waving from the corner while we stare at our screens.

Question of the Day
What tiny moment from this week reminded you that life still has magic in it?
For me, it was watching my daughter discover her Halloween costume in the mirror. She spun around three times, made the same face she makes every year, the “is this really me?” face, and then she ran out to show everyone. That pure, unfiltered joy? That’s magic.
The thing about these small moments is that they don’t announce themselves. You have to catch them in the act. They often come disguised as routine: folding laundry, watching a sunset, realizing someone remembered your coffee order without asking.
The magic isn’t always loud or cinematic. Sometimes it’s quiet enough to miss. Like I wrote in “Before You Worry About How to Win the Game…” (okay, I said I’d stop using it, but it fits too perfectly here), we waste so much energy trying to create big wins when the real victories are often the small, unnoticed ones.
If you can find one tiny moment this week that made you stop, breathe, and smile for no reason at all, that’s proof. The world hasn’t lost its magic. It’s just waiting for you to look up long enough to see it.
And if you need a little push to notice more often, revisit “Keep the Circus Going Inside You”, a reminder that playfulness and perspective are two of the sharpest senses we have.
