Welcome to today’s Thought of the Day and Question of the Day, where we reflect, laugh (sometimes at ourselves), and maybe even unearth a truth or two we weren’t expecting. Today, we’re looking at the uncomfortable art of letting go, and the awkward hilarity of things that are funny… until they’re not.
Thought of the Day: Let good things die so better things can live.
That’s a hard one to swallow, isn’t it?
We’re not talking about bad things. Not toxic relationships or broken toasters. We’re talking about the good things—jobs that still make us feel useful, projects that once brought joy, dreams that almost came true. The kind of “good” that’s just good enough to hold us back.
But sometimes, good has to make way for great.
It reminds me of my old Nokia phone. That thing was a tank. It could fly off the roof of the car at 30 mph and barely get a scratch, and that battery would last weeks.
Eventually thought, the technology moved on. On the shoulders of that phone, I now have a phone that could control the space shuttle. Sometimes the only way to step into something better is to finally, finally let go of what’s merely good.

Question of the Day: What’s something that’s funny until it happens to you?
Slipping on ice. That’s the answer. Full stop.
There is nothing funnier than watching someone do that surprised-arm-flail-full-body-squiggle dance on a frozen sidewalk—until it’s your turn. Then it’s a combo of pain, embarrassment, and praying no one saw your Olympic-level wipeout.
Or how about being the person who replies all to a company-wide email? Hilarious… when it’s someone else. Deeply soul-crushing when it’s you, especially if your message was something like, “Thanks!” and now 342 coworkers have that branded into their inboxes with your name on it.
These moments remind us of one very human truth: we laugh at the chaos of others because we’re terrified of our own.
It’s why I try to meet embarrassment with empathy now. Because I know what it feels like to laugh last—and to be laughed at.
