“Before you worry about how to win the game, figure out whether the game is worth winning.”
Sometimes a few words are enough to shift the way we see the day.
This one stopped me. Like, put-down-the-phone-and-stare-into-the-middle-distance stopped me. Because how often do we chase something with all our effort, only to realize it’s not something we even value?
I’ve done it more times than I’d like to admit, trying to win the “good parent” game by comparing myself to filtered Instagram families, or the “success” game by checking someone else’s scoreboard. But chasing approval or appearances? That’s a rigged game. If it’s not grounded in your values, your version of peace, your idea of meaning… why are you even playing?
Maybe today’s not about hustling harder. Maybe it’s about walking off the wrong field and into your own lane.
