Question and Thought for the Day February 5, 2025
Thought of the Day: There’s a magic in the distance, where the sea-line meets the sky. Alfred Noyes
Question of the Day: What is your all time favorite TV game show?
—
There’s something about the horizon, isn’t there? That thin, impossible line where the sky melts into the sea. It’s both a boundary and an invitation. It tells us where we are, but also teases us with where we could go.
The horizon is a promise—an unspoken assurance that there’s always more. More to see, more to explore, more to dream about. And maybe that’s why we’re drawn to it. We like the idea of possibility, of chasing something just out of reach, of knowing that the world is bigger than what we see in front of us.
Maybe that’s why I love a good game show.
Hear me out.
Game shows are built on that same sense of possibility. Every contestant steps onto the stage with a dream. Whether it’s winning a fortune, a car, or just the satisfaction of besting a bizarre obstacle course, they’re all chasing something just beyond the present moment.
For me, the ultimate game show is Bob Barker’s The Price is Right. It’s got everything—drama, strategy, unexpected twists, and that electric moment when a contestant either soars to victory or crashes spectacularly.
Game shows are microcosms of life. We take risks, we make choices, we guess at the unknown, and sometimes—just sometimes—we get it right. And even when we don’t, we keep playing.
So, what’s your all-time favorite TV game show? What’s the one that pulls you in, makes you root for strangers, and keeps you believing that a single moment can change everything?
Maybe it’s Jeopardy! with its brainy battles. Maybe it’s The Price Is Right and its neon-colored nostalgia. Or maybe it’s something more chaotic, like Wipeout, where the thrill is in watching people take a leap and hope for the best.
Whatever it is, it’s probably because it carries a little of that same magic—the kind that lives on the horizon, where the sea-line meets the sky.
