You always have to fight for your right to party.
But beyond that? You’ve also got to fight for your right to be yourself.
There are some battles worth losing, and others worth suiting up for again and again. The world will always try to sand off your edges, turn your passions into “distractions,” and convince you that your dreams need to fit a certain template. But the things you’d fight for, those are the ones that make you feel alive.
Some people fight for family. Others fight for fairness. Some fight for five minutes of peace in a house full of children who believe “quiet” is a myth. (Hi, it’s me. I’m “some people.”)
For me, I’ll always fight for creativity, that electric spark that keeps me curious, restless, and hungry to make something out of nothing. It’s easy to lose it in the noise. Bills. Deadlines. Laundry. But creativity is how I stay connected to who I am underneath all that. It’s how I remember that life’s not just about surviving; it’s about making.
And yes, sometimes it’s about partying. Because joy is worth fighting for, too. Not the kind of joy you have to buy or perform, the kind that sneaks up on you in laughter, music, or the perfect bite of pizza.
So what do you fight for, even when you’re tired, busy, or not sure it matters anymore?
If you can name it, protect it. Because the things you fight for shape the person you’re still becoming.
