Question of the Day: What is your favorite thing about Shark Week?
Easy: the Great Whites launching themselves out of the ocean like they’re in a Fast & Furious movie… and the divers slapping sharks in the nose like it’s just another Tuesday.
Shark Week isn’t just entertainment, it’s a whole mood. It’s that one time a year when grown adults gather around their TVs, whispering reverently about apex predators and arguing over whether hammerheads are underrated.
For me, Shark Week taps into a mix of childhood wonder and adult awe. As a kid, I watched it wide-eyed, convinced I’d grow up to be a marine biologist. Now I watch with snacks, adrenaline, and the comfort of knowing the sharks are on the screen and not in my bathtub.
There’s also something poetic about the routine of it. Every year, same time, the sharks come back. It’s oddly comforting to know that while the world changes constantly, Shark Week stays committed to terrifying slow-motion replays and dramatic music cues.
