Thought of the Day and Question of the Day: Better Intentions Beat Better Resolutions
What is a big change you are making in 2026?
When we hear a question like that, our brains tend to swing immediately toward the dramatic. Career moves. Fitness overhauls. Life resets that would look impressive written on a whiteboard.
But maybe that isn’t where the most honest answers live.
My answer is intentionally small. I’m moving my phone from my front left pants pocket to my front right pants pocket.
That’s it.
It sounds like a joke until you notice what it does. Every time I reach for my phone and it isn’t there, I pause. For a split second, I have to decide whether I actually want to check it or whether my hand just moved out of habit.
That pause is the change.
Big shifts don’t always come from big declarations. Sometimes they come from interrupting muscle memory. Sometimes they come from making the unconscious conscious, even briefly.
Your answer doesn’t need to sound important to anyone else. It doesn’t need to photograph well or survive a motivational quote font. It just needs to matter to you in the places where your days actually happen.
If your change feels almost too small to mention, that might be a good sign. Small changes are easier to carry. They’re harder to abandon. And they tend to quietly reshape things over time.
