I think I’d go with Sasquatch or a phoenix.
Hear me out. Sasquatch gives us mystery, the idea that even with satellites, smartphones, and doorbell cameras, the world still has secrets hiding in the woods. And the phoenix? That’s hope wrapped in feathers. Proof that things can fall apart completely, burst into flames even, and still start over again.
We could use a little more of both these days, mystery and renewal.
But it’s a tough call, right? You start thinking about vampires, werewolves, unicorns, angels, ghosts, and suddenly you realize that every creature we’ve invented tells us something about ourselves. Vampires? That’s the fear of never changing. Werewolves? That’s what happens when the beast inside wins. Ghosts remind us that we never really let go of what haunts us.
We make myths to make sense of what we can’t.
So maybe the real answer isn’t which one we want to be real, but which one we need to be real right now. Maybe you need a dragon’s fire to get through a rough week. Or a mermaid’s calm beneath the surface of chaos. Or maybe you just want a yeti roommate to finally prove you were right all along.
As for me, I’ll still take Sasquatch and the phoenix. One to remind me the world still holds surprises, and the other to remind me that I still do, too.
