If you’ve ever stared into the fridge at 3 a.m. wondering why the ketchup bottle looks sinister—or questioned the worth of your existence based on how many unread emails you have—you already know today’s Thought of the Day and Question of the Day hit different.
This post explores why having just one can change your life, and why the middle of the night is the worst time to make any kind of decision about anything.
Thought of the Day: Two is twice as good as one, but one is infinitely better than zero.
You can give me a second donut. A second kid. A second glass of wine. And I’ll be grateful. But none of those matter if you didn’t have the first.
One is everything. One breath. One friend. One shot. One idea. One “yes.”
In business, in relationships, in creativity—zero means you’re on the sidelines. One means you’re in the game.
I started this site with just one post. One question. One reader. That one turned into more, but it didn’t start with more. It started with one.
There’s a lot of pressure to do things big. But one is already big enough.
So today, whether it’s one step forward, one kind word, or just one less reason to give up—take the one.
🌙 Question of the Day: What’s something that’s really scary at 3 AM but perfectly normal at 3 PM?
Me:
- A closed closet door
- A weird creak from the pipes
- My own thoughts
- A mildly delayed text response
- The fact that I have toenails (don’t ask)
Seriously, everything gets warped at 3 a.m. That unpaid bill? Suddenly proof that you’re going to jail. That work email? Career-ending. That box in the corner of the room? Haunted.
But 3 p.m.? You’re sipping coffee and opening that same email like, “Oh, that’s not so bad.”
There’s something about the hour, the silence, and the shadows that distorts reality. But it’s also a reminder that we shouldn’t judge our lives by the version of ourselves who lives in the dark.
That person is usually exhausted and not entirely trustworthy.
If you’ve ever been there, you might also relate to this post about what part of your life is circling the drain.
