Thought of the Day: When you think you are too old to do something new remember you will never be younger than you are right now.
This one lands like a gut punch, especially when you’re staring at golf clubs gathering dust in the garage or an unfinished draft of a book on your laptop. How many times have I told myself, “Eh, I missed my window for that”? It’s so easy to believe that certain dreams have expiration dates.
But the truth is: today, right now, is the youngest you’ll ever be again. Future-You is older, busier, and probably crankier about your knees hurting when you climb stairs. If you’re going to take a swing at something, whether it’s learning guitar, running a 5K, or finally starting that business idea that’s been haunting you, this is the best shot you’ll ever have.
I felt like I was late to the party of blogging. But if I hadn’t started then, I wouldn’t be writing to you today. Waiting until you feel “ready” almost always means waiting until it’s too late.
So maybe the real Thought isn’t just about age, it’s about permission. You don’t need the perfect timing, you need to give yourself permission to start.
Question of the Day: What do you think people misunderstand most about you?
This one feels dangerous, doesn’t it? Like asking for free therapy in a single sentence.
For me, I think people often mistake my reflection for indecision. Because I like to ask questions, poke holes, and turn ideas over in my head before moving forward, some assume I’m dragging my feet. But the reality is, I’m just not built to bulldoze my way through life without thinking.
I’ve also been told I come across as “serious” at first, which is hilarious because anyone who knows me knows I’m constantly making dumb wordplay jokes and finding ways to make my kids roll their eyes at dinner.
What people misunderstand about you says a lot about the gap between perception and reality. Sometimes it’s frustrating, like when your hard work is invisible because you make it look easy. Other times, it’s freeing, because you realize you don’t need to explain yourself to everyone.
So what about you? Do people misunderstand your seriousness for aloofness? Your humor for immaturity? Your ambition for arrogance? Whatever it is, chances are you’ve wrestled with that misunderstanding more than they ever have.
