Question of the Day
What’s something obvious that took you way too long to notice?
Thought of the Day
Do you know what I hate about the obvious? Missing it.
The Doctor
The obvious has a funny way of hiding in plain sight. It’s right there, staring you in the face, waving a giant neon sign. And yet, somehow, you don’t see it—until you do. Then it hits you like a brick wall, leaving you wondering, How did I not notice this sooner?
We’ve all had moments like this. For me, it’s usually something so simple that I laugh at myself for missing it. A small but glaring oversight, like looking for my glasses only to realize they’ve been on my head the whole time. Or spending five minutes searching for my phone… while using it as a flashlight to look. It’s humbling, isn’t it?
But sometimes, the things we miss aren’t so trivial. They’re truths about our lives, relationships, or even ourselves. Maybe it’s a toxic dynamic we’ve been tolerating for years, an opportunity we’ve overlooked, or a habit that’s been quietly sabotaging our growth. The obvious isn’t always comfortable, but it’s always important.

Why do we miss the obvious? Maybe it’s because we’re too close to it. It’s like standing inches away from a painting in a museum—you can’t see the whole picture until you take a step back. Or maybe it’s because we’re busy overcomplicating things, thinking the answer has to be hidden somewhere deeper, more profound. Spoiler: it rarely is.
Recognizing the obvious takes a moment of pause. It’s about giving yourself the space to step back, see the bigger picture, and laugh at the absurdity of it all. That’s part of being human—missing the forest for the trees, then marveling at how beautiful the forest is once you finally see it.
So here’s my question to you: What’s something obvious that took you way too long to notice? Was it an everyday moment like mine, or was it something bigger that changed your perspective? Whatever it is, I’d love to hear it.
Because if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that sharing these “aha” moments helps us all see a little more clearly.
