Every day, I share a new Thought of the Day and Question of the Day, not just to fill space or feel clever (though I do enjoy both), but because sometimes one little sentence can steer the whole day, or even your life, in a new direction. Today’s pairing might just help you figure out whether you’re forging a path forward… or walking in circles.
Let’s dig in.
🌲 Thought of the Day: “If you see the same tree twice in the forest, it’s because you’re lost.”
Here’s the brutal truth about life (and hiking): sometimes you think you’re blazing a trail, when really, you’re looping around the same stretch of uncertainty again and again.
I’ve been there. You tell yourself you’re making progress, but deep down, you recognize that tree. It’s the one labeled procrastination. Or avoidance. Or “I’ll start next Monday.”
Sometimes the forest is a career path. Or a relationship. Or a creative project that keeps getting back-burnered. And sometimes, seeing that same tree twice isn’t a mistake—it’s a warning. A quiet nudge that it’s time to pull out your compass (or, let’s be honest, your phone) and figure out where you’re actually trying to go.
I wrote about not doing anything inthis post about don’t just do something, sit there.

🌱 Question of the Day: “What seeds are you planting today?”
This question feels soft at first. Gentle. Maybe even a little fluffy. But then it hits: What are you actively creating right now that your future self will thank you for?
And I don’t mean some big five-year plan. I mean today. What action, no matter how tiny, is putting something good in the ground?
Are you reading one page of that book? Sending that email? Drinking water instead of coffee #5? Or maybe you’re planting the seed of vulnerability by texting someone, “Hey, I miss you.” (I know, scary.)
The seeds don’t have to be perfect. Just planted. I explored this idea a bit in this post about how rest is not idleness, and also in this reflection on how we’re always becoming someone—whether we mean to or not.
Because here’s the kicker: if you’re not planting on purpose, you’re still planting something. Weeds grow fast when you’re not paying attention.
💬 Your Turn
Have you been seeing the same tree more than once lately? What seed are you planting today—on purpose or not?
