If you look up the word joy in the dictionary, you will find the answer, “a source or cause of delight”.
I like the word delight because for me it conjures images of people at a party talking, laughing, and having fun. They are with family and friends with wide smiles. The picture in my mind’s eye is full of warmth and fellowship. I want to be there.
In times like we are experiencing now, it’s important to look for these moments of joy however small they might seem.
It’s important because being filled with joy makes us happy. It gives us a reason to get out of bed in the morning and tackle the day. And oh how we need motivation to tackle our days right now.
Finding joy, has as a side effect, the loss of anger, depression, and malaise. It can also make you physically heathier. Isn’t it great to not feel boxed up by the world?
For these reasons and for many more, I’m bringing to you, 25 Days of Joy during the month of December. Every day, from December 1 to December 25, I will be sharing things and ways you can bring joy to the world and to yourself. #25DaysofJoy
Today’s Joy
For me, the biggest joy of the year was being in lockdown for 3 months with my infant son. He was six months old when it began, he couldn’t crawl or even sit himself up without help. During our lockdown time, I saw my son sit up for the first time, I watched him start to crawl, and then two months later, I watched him take his first steps.
Had we not been on lockdown, my wife and I would have missed those milestones because we would have been working and he would have been at daycare. I thank God we were able to watch our first child growing.
Much of life is how you choose to view the situation you are in. Some of you reading this may have suffered losses this past year. Still, I know every person experienced moments of joy these past months. Now is a good time to reflect on those moments.
What were some of your joys this year? How are you going to find joy in the next 25 days
