Every day, I like to pair a Thought of the Day and a Question of the Day together—it’s a simple way to explore an idea and then follow it with a little curiosity. Today’s post brings together fruit that refuses to grow out of season and fashion choices that deserve a second chance. Let’s dive in.
Thought of the Day: You should not expect figs in winter.
Patience is one of those virtues we all admire but rarely practice. We want everything right now, success, growth, peace, or in this case, figs. But life doesn’t work on our schedule, no matter how much we demand it. There are natural rhythms and seasons, and if you try to rush them, you end up frustrated.
I’ve been guilty of expecting “winter figs” in my own life. Times when I wanted instant results from projects, or when I tried to push through seasons that were clearly meant for rest. It never worked. Some things need time. A seed planted today doesn’t bear fruit tomorrow, no matter how many motivational speeches you give it.
It reminds me of a recent reflection where I said success is built in rooms no one would photograph. Growth often looks invisible while it’s happening, and that’s okay. Just because you don’t see the figs doesn’t mean the tree isn’t alive.
The challenge is to trust the season you’re in. If it’s winter, don’t expect figs—expect rest, preparation, and maybe a little stillness. The fruit will come in its time.

Question of the Day: What fashion do you want to make a comeback?
Confession: I want cloaks and men’s hats to return. Not just baseball caps and beanies, but actual hats, bowlers, fedoras, even stovepipes if you’re feeling dramatic. And cloaks? Come on. Nothing says mystery, style, and “I might be carrying a secret map” like a good cloak.
Think about how much better grocery shopping would feel if you walked in with a stovepipe hat and a cloak billowing behind you. Suddenly, the frozen food aisle becomes an adventure.
There’s something about old styles that carried personality. They weren’t about blending in, they were about announcing yourself. We’ve settled into a world of sweatpants and hoodies (which I love, don’t get me wrong), but it wouldn’t hurt to throw a little Victorian flair into the mix.
A while back, I asked what was true a generation ago that no longer is. Fashion is one of those truths that constantly evolves. Maybe it’s time we reached back and borrowed a little drama, a little character, and a little extra brim on our hats.
So, what do you think? Are cloaks the comeback we’ve all been waiting for, or do you have a different fashion resurrection in mind?
