November 30, 2025
Every month comes with its own personality. January is ambitious. March is moody. July is that cousin who brings fireworks to everything. And November is a little unpredictable. It can be cozy. It can be heavy. It can be comforting. It can be chaotic. It can feel like a soft landing or a surprise pop quiz.
So when I ask, what unexpected joy found you in November, I really mean it. Because November has a way of giving you things you did not plan for. Some of them good, some of them questionable, and some of them so surprisingly helpful that they sneak up on you with a little quiet grace.
For me, the joy came in the form of relief. Not a dramatic scene, not a miracle moment, not a cinematic transformation. Just… relief. A small lift in a weight my family has been carrying for a long time. The kind of weight that does not show up in photos or calendars, but definitely shows up in your shoulders, your sleep, your patience, and your sense of humor. This month, something shifted. Not everything. Not all at once. But enough. Enough to let me breathe a little deeper. Enough to remind me that even the heaviest seasons have threads of hope woven through them.
That is the thing about unexpected joy. It rarely enters like a parade. It shows up like a tap on the shoulder. A phone call that goes better than you expected. A bill that is smaller than you feared. A conversation you did not know you needed. A moment when you suddenly realize you are not drowning anymore, just treading water. And sometimes that is enough to change your entire week.
I think we underestimate quiet joy. We look for the big moments, the victories, the celebrations. But most of the time, joy does not need to be loud to be real. It just needs to find you. And often it finds you when you are tired, or overwhelmed, or right at the edge of burning out. Almost like it knows exactly when to arrive.
So take a moment today and ask yourself: what unexpected joy found me in November? Maybe it was something small, like a nap you actually got to finish. Maybe it was something big, like a relationship healing or a goal finally moving forward. Or maybe it was something so ordinary it almost did not feel like joy until you looked at it twice.
Wherever it came from, acknowledge it. Hold onto it. Let it be a reminder that even in the most crowded, stressful, noisy months, good things still slip through the cracks. Sometimes quietly. Sometimes gently. But always at the right time.
