When you think about it, every Thought of the Day and Question of the Day is just a dare. A dare to think a little differently. To ask yourself something you normally wouldn’t.
Today’s pairing is a perfect example, a little spooky, a little silly, and a little true.
We’re talking about fear, fun, and that strange, electric feeling that comes when the world goes quiet and shadows start to move just a little too much.
🕯️ Thought of the Day
“It’s as much fun to scare as to be scared.” — Vincent Price
Vincent Price didn’t just understand horror,he savored it. That slow, deliberate voice, that grin that suggested he knew something you didn’t. He made fear into an art form.
And he’s right. There’s a delicious balance between the thrill of being scared and the joy of causing a perfectly timed jump scare. Whether it’s sneaking up on your spouse when they’re folding laundry (and immediately regretting it), or watching a horror movie with the lights off just to prove you can, we flirt with fear because it reminds us we’re alive.
It’s the adrenaline spike. The nervous laugh afterward. The heart pounding against your ribs saying, “I’m still here.”
As kids, we hid behind couch cushions. As adults, we hide behind rationalizations: It’s just the wind. It’s just the house settling. But part of us doesn’t want those explanations. We want the goosebumps. The mystery. The magic.
After all, fear is just excitement with worse lighting.

🌒 Question of the Day
What time of night feels the most haunted to you?
Between midnight and 2 a.m.
That’s the witching window. When the world gets quieter than it should be. The fridge hums louder. The shadows stretch a little longer. Your brain starts to whisper: Maybe don’t look out that window right now.
There’s something about that hour when sleep hasn’t fully taken hold but the rest of the world seems to have disappeared. It’s as if reality thins out a little. You start thinking about every noise, every flicker of light. The rational part of your brain clocks out early, and the storyteller part clocks in.
Maybe it’s not haunted at all, maybe it’s just when our imagination feels safest to come out and play. The day’s noise is gone, and our thoughts start to echo.
And honestly, isn’t that when some of the best ideas show up? When you’re just tired enough to be brave, and just awake enough to be weird?
