Every day is a new chance to think a little deeper and ask ourselves something we might not otherwise stop to consider. That’s why I love pairing a Thought of the Day and Question of the Day—they work together to nudge reflection in two directions: one inward, one outward. Today’s thought reminds us to live in the present, while today’s question asks us to consider what adulthood really offers.
Thought of the Day: Forget the difference you made yesterday. Make a difference today.
This one hits me right between the eyes. It’s too easy to get caught up in the glow of yesterday’s victory (or the sting of yesterday’s failure). But the truth is, yesterday doesn’t care about you anymore. Yesterday has already moved on.
The only thing that matters is what you’re doing now, today, in this moment.
It doesn’t have to be huge. You don’t need to donate a wing to a hospital or save a life to “make a difference.” Sometimes making a difference is as small as sending a kind text, picking up that piece of trash nobody else saw, or listening without distraction when someone needs you.
The best part? You get a fresh shot at it every morning. Wipe the slate clean. Forget yesterday’s difference. Today is waiting for you.
This reminds me of why people want you to do well—but not better than them. Comparison can keep you stuck in yesterday’s scorecard, but real progress happens in the small choices you make right now.

Question of the Day: What is the best thing about being an adult?
It depends who you ask. Kids might say “getting to eat dessert whenever you want.” (They’re not wrong.) Some people say independence. Others say financial freedom, though the phrase “freedom” feels a little optimistic when you’re paying for groceries, car repairs, and that mystery Amazon package your kids ordered.
For me, the best thing about being an adult is perspective. The ability to step back and realize that some of the things I thought were massive as a teenager—like whether I wore the right sneakers—just… aren’t. Adulthood lets you see the long game, not just the scoreboard at halftime.
And then there’s the bonus round: getting to share that perspective with the next generation. I get to answer my kids’ big questions and also hear them say things that knock me flat with their wisdom.
What about you? Maybe you’d say it’s getting to choose your own bedtime (and then laughing because you chose 9:30). Maybe it’s being able to invest in experiences that matter. Or maybe it’s simply that you can finally buy your own box of Tagalongs without needing a parent to sign the check.
If you’re looking for another angle on adulthood, you might like reflecting on sleeping with a mosquito. Sometimes being a grown-up isn’t about freedom—it’s about responsibility, and how we show it.
