Sometimes a few words are enough to shift the way we see the day.
It reminds me that some of the hardest choices we face aren’t between good and bad, they’re between good and better. And that’s way messier.
We hold onto the good because it’s comfortable. Because it’s known. Because it once brought us joy. But if you’re always clinging to “good enough,” your hands will be too full to grab hold of something truly great.
Lately, I’ve been thinking about this in terms of time. My evenings are filled with tasks I don’t hate. But I’ve realized that saying yes to everything good means saying no to the great stuff, like creative ideas I never make time to pursue, or actual rest that isn’t half-scrolling my phone in the dark while trying not to drop it on my face.
Sometimes, letting go of something “good” isn’t failure. It’s fertilizer.
