We shouldn’t need a car crash to wake up to the preciousness of our existence. And yet, it happens all the time.
The near misses, the unexpected losses, the moments where time slows, and you realize—just for a breath—that everything you take for granted can be gone in an instant. It’s a brutal, unforgiving wake-up call. But what if we didn’t wait for the crash? What if we lived with the kind of urgency that tragedy forces upon us, without the tragedy?
Every single day, we make choices as if we have time to spare. We put off the phone call, the “I love you,” the risk worth taking. We assume tomorrow will give us another shot. But reality isn’t obligated to our assumptions.
So, let this be your reminder: whatever is worth doing, do it now. Whatever is worth saying, say it today. Because you don’t need a collision with mortality to remember that life is fragile and fleeting. You just need to decide that today is important enough to matter.
