Question and Thought for the Day February 21, 2025
Question of the Day: When does it benefit you to be patient and when does it not?
Thought of the Day: Do what you can. Endure what you must. Make the best of it.
Patience is a virtue—until it isn’t. We’re told to wait our turn, trust the process, and let things unfold. But sometimes, patience is just a polite word for hesitation. Other times, it’s the difference between wisdom and regret. The trick is knowing which is which.
There are moments in life when patience pays off. A well-timed pause can prevent costly mistakes, deepen relationships, and create opportunities that wouldn’t exist if we forced the issue. In investments, patience allows money to grow. In parenting, it lets children find their own way. In creativity, patience helps ideas mature before they’re ready to be shared with the world.
But patience also has a dark side. There’s a thin line between waiting for the right moment and wasting precious time. Staying in a job that drains you, hoping for a relationship to change, or waiting for “the perfect conditions” to chase your dreams—these are the places where patience turns into stagnation.

So how do you know the difference? Ask yourself:
- Is my patience leading to progress or paralysis?
- Am I waiting because it’s wise or because I’m afraid?
- If I take action today, will I regret it, or will I be relieved?
Not everything in life is under our control, but we can always choose how we respond. Do what you can. Endure what you must. Make the best of it.
And when in doubt—move. The worst mistake is often not acting at all.
