So often today, we see nothing but the negative things in life. We are becoming conditioned to think the world is a hateful place full of selfish people who just want what they believe they are entitled to have. If you believe in evil, you must believe in good.
Turning on the television news and the first stories always relate to violence and hatred. Look to your Facebook timeline, and you will see the angry posts about what some politician did. Go to the coffee shop or the store and you can watch people get angry and frustrated with the cashier or fellow patrons.
Buried in the hate that is in our face, you will see a bright spot or two.
Why are these negative emotions so dominant in our society? I don’t know, but If you believe in great evil you must believe in great good and this is why: Nature(and God) doesn’t do anything one sided. Everything has an opposite side.
We have day and night. Black and White. Old and young. Life and Death. Even colors have opposites. Have you seen a color wheel? (purple is opposite of yellow) If the earth was flat, it would still have an opposite side.
Everywhere you look, everything has two sides. Therefore, if you believe there is evil in the world, you must believe there is good. If you believe in selfishness, you must believe there is generosity.
Now that we’ve established every single thing in life has a balance, you need to ask yourself, what are you choosing in life? Live a life of anger, hatred, frustration, or a life of peace, love, and generosity.
Being generous and nice isn’t always easy. If it was easy, every one would be doing it. Being nice comes easier to some people than it does for others. The good news is you just need to try. You will fail a lot. Some will question your sincerity but don’t let that stop you.
You may be able to change the world one smile at a time.
